Ljubica (Bajić) Lalić (1910–1946) was the mother of poet Ivan V. Lalić and the wife of Vlajko Lalić. She was born in [place] to [mother’s name] and composer Isidor Bajić. She married at the age of 19 and gave birth to her only child, Ivan, at 20. Ljubica raised her son in Belgrade, where the family lived until she contracted tuberculosis at the age of 35. In hopes of treatment, she relocated with her husband and son to Zagreb, where she was cared for by tuberculosis specialist Dr. Stjepan Kašnar. She died in 1946, leaving behind her husband and their fifteen-year-old son.

By all accounts, Ljubica and Ivan were exceptionally close. Her early death had a profound impact on him and inspired some of his earliest poetic work.
