Vlajko Lalić, b. 1959-1989
Vlajko Lalić (1959–1989) was a Serbian pianist and jazz musician. He was the first son of Branka and Ivan Lalić. Vlajko grew up in Belgrade where he studied music from a young age and was awarded a scholarship to study at Bennington college, Vermont, after winning first prize at the Jeunesse Musicale international youth musician competition in 1974. He moved to Amsterdam in 1988 to work as a professional pianist, giving concerts in Holland and Italy, in which time he began recording his first album. Vlajko passed away one year later at the age of 29 in a sailing accident while traveling between Venice and Rovinj.
